Shopping!

Happy Holidays, merge-fans! We've got lots of great holiday shopping deals in the Merge Store for you, and special Charity Auctions happening here!

Enjoy the values that Wilson, Jamie and Paul have cooked up for you, and please help us spread the word about our charity auctions. It's for a great cause, and we plan to have different items up every week until Christmas, or until we run out of cool stuff!

Ho, Ho, Ho!

Ride the White Whale wave

Atrios is on board.

Now, you may say "blogging about other blogs blogging about you is lame", but Atrios is one of our favorites (and sometimes vaguely reminds me of my game theory professor at UNC), so a feedback loop it is.

Fookin' Hell, Man!

Recently, we came across an interview in Exclaim Magazine with Oasis' Noel Gallagher where he recounts his first encounter with
M. Ward's music . . .

Exclaim: What are your current fixations?
Noel: Well I’m really into the Kasabian album, but I’ve just got an album in New York by a guy called M. Ward, it’s called Post-War. Fookin’ hell man. I’ve never heard this guy before, and I was doing a photo shoot, as us rock stars generally do, and some guy was playing it in the background. I was like, “What’s that fookin’ music?” And he’s like, [adopts American accent] “Dude, it’s M. Ward.” One of the best albums I’ve ever heard actually.

Thanks, Noel. We couldn't agree more.

Full interview here. Audio (!!!) here!.

Merge @ CMJ wrap-up!

Ahh, the post-CMJ sickness. It comes like clockwork. Now that I've been given a week to recover, let me tell you how awesome it was to see 5 of the Merge bands rock New York City! The Broken West burst onto the scene via CMJ's Station of the Year,KEXP!

Thursday was College Day at Lincoln Center, where CMJ set up panels for all the music directors and handed out awards to the best of the biz - and yours truly was given one of the highest honors, Sexiest Phone Voice! Don't ask me how I did it, but apparently I'm not allowed to send emails anymore.

Friday night at the Knitting Factory was definitely the highlight of the trip! The Broken West, Portastatic, White Whale, and Richard Buckner all represented in usual Merge fashion by blowing everyone away! It was an early night, which was good, since Saturday was full of Brooklyn fun.

The team at Sound Fix Records welcomed the Ladybug Transistor, Portastatic, and White Whale for a packed set of in-store performances! It was a relaxing ending to our CMJ trip, and hopefully some of you were there with us!

Oh CMJ, I'll never forget you.

The Clientele blog and get remixed!

The Clientele have a fantastic blog! Alasdair has recently posted scans of he and his sister's childhood obsession with ghost sightings. My favorite part is when his sister says "It's a Werewolf, alright."

Also, check out this rad hip hop artist - DT the Emcee - and his song, For Gui, which samples The Clientele! Seems unlikely, but is actually very cool! Check it out via his myspace.

The Clientele are currently finishing up their new full-length for early next year! We can't wait!
